GENERAL DJ ISSUES

Why should I use Spuntrix1 instead of Technics/Vestax turntables?

Previously, starting a Mobile DJ service was difficult and expensive. DJs needed to buy loads of very costly equipment (2 Technics* or Vestax* Turntables, 1 Pro.  DJ Mixer (e.g. Vestax PMC*), Cables, 1 Microphone and 1 Pair of Headphones - for a basic Pro. setup) which constantly required accessories like needles, cartridges, slip-mats, fader replacements etc. Not to mention the jumble of interconnecting cables that made it difficult to isolate equipment problems at gigs.

Then you had to spend even MORE CASH to accumulate hundreds of vinyl records and CDs before going out on your first gig. Unfortunately, many big record companies try to force you to buy even the songs that you don't want. For example if you buy an album which contains 3 songs that you already have, is it fair for you to pay for these 3 songs? The cost of the album definitely includes them!

You also had to learn how to use each equipment thoroughly including some basic electronics in order to trouble-shoot common problems (like ground-loop hums).  The Technics manual was never going to teach you how to deejay, it was up to you to learn by trial and error - probably breaking a few needles and wearing out a fader or two.

As if that wasn't enough hassle, you would quickly realize that your equipment needed protection during transit - hence the need for bulky road-cases which cost at least $150 each and made it even more difficult to set up equipment at unusual venues!

  • Spuntrix1 v2.0 Pro. removes the hassle from deejaying by eliminating the need for turntables, mixers, CD decks and related accessories like giant road cases, replacement faders, vinyl cleaners, stylus needles. cartridges, cables etc

  • Spuntrix1 v2.0 Pro. helps you save money by encouraging you to buy music online - legally.  You only buy the tracks that you need! In addition there is a lot of royalty free music on the internet that you can download legally.

  • Spuntrix1 v2.0 Pro. gives you a jump-start at deejaying - for FREE. We have embraced the try-before-you-buy concept to allow everyone to see if they have what it takes to be a god DJ. A detailed help file gets you up and running in NO TIME!

What do I need to start a Mobile DJ Service?

Examples of some basic professional setups are outlined below.

High-Tech Low-budget Pro. Setup:

  • Desktop PC (CPU can be discreetly placed on floor - under the table - so that you only have the screen, keyboard and mouse on your DJ table) - with a good soundcard installed. (For Professional use, a PC with a 600MHz Processor, 64MB RAM, and  2 Gig Hard Disk is our minimum recommendation.)
    .

  • Registered version of Spuntrix1 v2.0 Pro. installed on the PC.
    .

  • A pair of good Headphones.
    .

  • A good Amplifier to boost the volume of Music
    .

  • Speakers that can handle you Amplifier's power ratings.
    .

  • Cables like Y-Cables (see help file), speaker cables, power extension cables  etc.

This is a great setup if you're just starting out as a professional DJ/Entertainer. PCs have become quite cheap and easily available nowadays.

The only problem with this setup is that the computer's screen is fragile. Desktop PCs can be a bit bulky too - but the good thing is that you can stash the CPU out of the way under the DJ table, leaving you with the screen, mouse and keyboard  only on top of the table.

This makes the setup more suitable for permanent installations (e.g. a club, Pub or Restaurant). Despite these minor limitations for mobile use,  it still remains an elegant and professional option.

X-tra Lite Medium-budget Pro. Setup:

  • Same as above but uses a Laptop instead of PC. Laptops have become pretty affordable nowadays - a used laptop will usually do a good job.

This setup allows you to enjoy ALL the convenience that Spuntrix1 Pro. offers to the DJ. Needs less cables, less space and looks VERY elegant and professional. This is the setup we recommend.

Tell me more about your relationship with Regsoft.com

Our relationship is somewhat similar to that of a Manufacturer and a Retailer. When you buy a Technics SL1200, for example, you will not get it direct from the manufacturer.

99.9% of the time, the manufacturer will refer you to an equipment retailer like upstairsrecords.com or pssl.com who will process your online payments safely and ensure your merchandise is delivered to you.

The manufacturer, on the other hand,  will usually provide all the technical and user support, that the customer will require.

Spuntrix Systems is the manufacturer in this case. We manufacture and distribute professional quality software products for DJs and provide ALL technical support to our users.

You no longer have to go through the nightmare of configuring two soundcards to work in harmony.

Isn't it better to play Stereo Music at a gig or club?

Absolutely not. Stereo is actually bad for dancehalls because the low ends tend to go out of phase and muffle each other out. That is why many clubs and pro. DJs connect all their bass speakers and subwoofers to a single mono channel. This gives the sound system a more pronounced thump in the lower frequencies.

To appreciate true stereo imagery with ANY music system, you need to use  quality headphones OR listen from a certain distance in front of (and between)  two speakers - which have been placed a certain distance apart. Clearly not a concept that can be applied to dance floors in clubs and mobile gigs where everyone is moving all over the place!

What is more important for DJs is the power and reliability of their sound system.
